scrollShot Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026 - Extension version 1.4.0

scrollShot lets you select a scrolling area of a web page and copy or download it as a PNG. It processes screenshots on your device. It does not operate a server or send captured images to the developer.

Information processed

When you start a selection, scrollShot accesses the active page to display the selection, measure its layout and scroll it. During capture, it takes screenshots of the visible tab and combines the selected portions locally. Temporary screenshots can include visible content outside your final selection; only the cropped result is saved.

Captured content may contain personal information that appears on the page. You choose what to capture. scrollShot does not collect browsing history, analytics, advertising identifiers, account details or existing clipboard contents. It does not use tracking or advertising services.

Storage and deletion

The latest successful PNG and the Click (capture on release) preference are stored in the extension's local IndexedDB. A new successful capture replaces the previous saved image. Closing the popup or browser does not delete the saved image. Use Delete image in the popup to remove it. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data.

Captured viewport images are processed temporarily in memory. They are not added to a screenshot history. Data is not synchronized through an extension account or cloud service.

Clipboard and downloads

After capture, scrollShot attempts to write the PNG to your clipboard. This replaces the previous clipboard item. If automatic copying is unavailable, you can use Copy Last Capture. The extension does not read your clipboard. Downloads happen only when you select Download PNG.

Deleting the local saved image does not clear the system clipboard, remove downloaded files or delete images you have pasted into other apps. Your operating system's clipboard history or synchronization settings and the apps you paste into control those copies.

Permissions

scrollShot does not request persistent access to all websites, clipboard reading, or a browsing-history permission.

Data sharing and limited use

The developer does not receive, sell or share your screenshots. Data is used only to provide the capture, copy and download functions you request. scrollShot's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
